DPM Research Project

2025

For my Master’s product management course, I dove deep into the evolution of Adobe Photoshop—tracing how it grew from a simple display tool into the gold standard for digital imaging. I explored everything from the Knoll brothers’ original vision to Adobe’s bold shift to subscription pricing, using product frameworks like the Kano Model and Jobs-to-be-Done to analyze how Photoshop has prioritized features and positioned itself in the market.

I also looked at how Adobe responded to competition and changing user needs, showing how smart product decisions helped Photoshop stay ahead and shape an entire industry. The project connected theory to real-world impact and gave me a solid lens into what long-term product leadership really looks like.

Professor and Mentor Feedback

Professor Kevin Ball (BYU) & Jared Anderson (Microsoft)

Izzy. Wow. Great intro – made it personal, “imagine a world…” is a wonderful way to pull the audience into your message. Great use of a thought bubble to get people thinking where you want them to…setting their expectations so you can exceed them.

Your superpowers are evident. Slides are superb. Your conversational tone is among the best (great pace and tone).

Great breadth and depth demonstrated in your presentation as well as your sources and appendix. Full credit for this approach on research.

I was fully expecting to see your superpower around compelling visual elements and I wasn’t disappointed.

There’s just so much to praise in this deliverable I’ll simply say this: you mastered this. Full credit on professionalism.

I’ve never, in all my years teaching, given a 100+ (or even 100) on a semester research project….you earned it. It’s the highest praise and feedback I can give you. 😊
